That is true but FP mode also reduces flash power as you go up in sync speed so at the end, there may not be much left to fill in bright sun unless you are very close to the subject.

Yes this happens with all dslr`s, these features come at a price.

If you really want to use flash that is totally un-restricted use something with a leaf shutter, high end compacts can be very good, X100 etc.
