Sorry about the slow response.

Nice shots, Colin.

I'm doing a two-month safari later this year from Kenya to South Africa. I'm taking Micro Four Thirds gear, including a 75-300 and three primes (12/2.0, 17/1.8 and 45/1.8)

Do you have any advice that might be helpful?

I'm weighing up whether or not to take a tripod. Some people have suggested beanbags to help with shooting out the windows of safari vehicles. However, very few of the people offering advice have actually been to Africa. I'm tempted to leave as much stuff at home as I can, as I prefer to travel light, but I don't want to leave something out and regret it.

Hi Scott

I did post a reply the same day but I think I hdd a iffy word in it (Buggered) . I have only noticed it has not gone through now.

AS to lenses . If I was you I would take a short zoom with me as well. Things get very small/big on you quickly and you often don't have time to change lenses or zoom with your feet.

What is imperative tio take with you are.

1) Lots of batteries.

2) A spare charger. ( m4/3 is not big in Africa so if you lose it or its breaks you are dead in the water)

3) Lot of memory cards

4)  Bean Bag . One of these that you can fill yo on location with , beans , rice , maize etc)

5) Tripod / Mono pod. Go with a lightweight tripos( Fold up int 4/5 sections) There are occasions where you will need one. If you hols the legs in you can use it as a mno pod. The revers can happen with a monopod.

6) A spare body is essential. ( You don't want to spend the rest of your life remembering the one that got away. ) . Maybe a secondhand EP that you can resell when you get back.

7) Extra lens body caps if you can. I always lose a few.

The common sen stuff like , zip lock , bags , cleaning materials etc I will leave to you. But getting replacements in Africa in the short term is nearly impossible.  If you have any queries send me a PM.
