Biogon is not more complicated than planar, just different design and more exotic for us since biogons are non-retrofocus designs that have to sit really close to film/sensor and therefore are not feasible for SLR/DSLR. There have been numerous reports that biogons have issues on NEX with smearing and color shifts.

Yes, the biogons only work for mirrorless cameras.

They perform soso on the Nex cameras with 14Mp and 24Mp sensors, but do a beautiful job on the Nex cameras with 16Mp sensors.

I have tried the CG28, CG35 and ZM35, all biogon designs, on the Nex-5, Nex-5N, Nex-6 and Nex-7, and would only use them on the Nex-5N and Nex-6. Wide open, they are typically less of a problem, depending on the scene (edges are usually OOF):

ZM35 at f/2.0

ZM35 at f/2.0
