Re: Volleyball with the D7100 and the Nikon 28-300

The focusing on this lens seemed to be very fast and accurate. There were some out of focus shots. But, I would say that about 90% were spot on. And, when dealing with fast action like this that's really good. FWIW I had a terrible time getting accurate focus with my D7000. That's why I ultimately sold it. Lots of backfocusing (even after fine tuning and sending it to Nikon). And, the cheaper af system just didn't cut it imho. So, I am truly blown away by the D7100 which focuses as well as my D700/800 and old D300. The lens is also a big surprise. And effective 42-450mm lens that is sharp and contrasty. Be warned though that wide open the lens is not so sharp. And, when I say sharp I don't mean on the level of the 24-70 f2.8. But, with some post sharpening it produces very crisp images stopped down to f7.1 and smaller.
