Actually the MkI superteles did see falling prices through their lifetime. And it's happening with the MkII's as well - the 300/2.8L II for example was launched at £7499 in the UK but now sells for around £5000. Similarly the 400/2.8 was launched at £11499 - now it's £8250.

If the 200-400/4L follows the same pattern, and there's no reason think it wouldn't, it will be possible to buy one for £8.5k, maybe even £8k, in a couple of years.
