Re: TG-2 Review

Just thought I would chime in and maybe help someone trying to decide between the 820 and TG-2. Just came back from our Cuban vacation with the 820, and all I can say is that it performed flawlessly. I originally bought then returned the TG-2, as I was terribly disappointed with the IQ (heavy NR in every pic at all ISOs) The 820 was only $169 on special, versus $400 for the TG-2. For me, the shots from the 820 were sharper without a doubt. I never used it in low light, so I didn't miss the faster (but less sharp) lens of the TG-2. I was in bright sunny conditions all week, and the underwater shots were great. The video was also very acceptable for vacation stuff. I was in and out of the water all day, every day, and never had the lens fog. If you don't think you'll need the fast lens, I would say the 820 is a great vacation cam that will please most everyone. For evening shots, I brought a better cam that wasn't going to be used at the pool side. Also, out of the 600 plus photos I snapped, I believe less the 10 were out of focus. The 820 seemed to hit right all the time, and very quick to focus as well.
