Both the flare problems seem to be solved with the new setup, this is a very nice improvement. Thanks everyone for commenting

I'm now starting to experiment with HDR to handle the most contrasty slides. First results (using the HDR function of DPP, with 1 stop over- and underexposure) show very little gain in DR, compared to what can be extracted from a RAW file with lowest contrast settings. The highlights look a bit nicer with the HDR function, but the cost is a strong increase in grain - not worth the huge amount of time that is required for this. I will try again with Enfuse one of these days, and use 5 images or 2 stops exposure difference.
