RAW vs JPG

I'd like to know how many experienced users prefer RAW vs jpg when working on their images.  I have been using Paint Shop Pro to manipulate digital graphics for many years and am very much up to speed on it.  I can do things like change the white balance, gamma correct etc much faster there than anywhere else.  When I work in RAW, I am much more limited to what programs i can use and I am not up on the learning curve of those programs.  Additionally, I have to go through many extra steps to get my images into PSP which is where I will put the final touches on in any case.

I am wondering if and when it is really worth all the extra hassle to work RAW?  On some of the forums I get the impression many users don't bother with RAW.  All opinions welcome!

TIA.

Buddy
