Just an update--my new-in-box i960 is doing great.  Just finished 1st tank of BCI-6 Photo Magenta.  I replaced it with a CLI-8PM tank--still spot-on color and I get a fairly economical option with better fade resistance.  Shame on Canon for phasing such printers out, IMO.  Last time I looked, a new-in-box i9900 was listed on Ebay for $1500.  Still, lots of happy PRO-100 owners out there.  Any word on yours?

I got mine back and it's still doing the same thing.  Maybe it's just the way this one prints.  I called the credit card that I bought it with and they give extended return privileges.  I'll be sending it to them for a refund.  I'm not sure where to go from here, but I will print a few with the old Hp for now.  I was told to get an Epson.  Maybe I'll look there.  Although I'm sorry you had the same problem, I'm glad it wasn't just me.  Thanks for speaking up.

as viewed on my claibrated monitor, and it prints purple on both my Epson R3000 and Canon PRO9000 MK II printers.

What Brian, Joe and myself are trying to tell you, is that there is nothing wrong with your printer!  Unfortunately it is you, your settings and the application that you use are not correct for your goal.  You can buy an Epson, HP, or another Canon printer and it will still print that photo purple, which is correct.

You need....

1.  A good monitor, and calibration hardware/software.

2.  Use a good photo editing/printing application, such as, Photoshop, Lightroom, Photoshop Elements, etc. and learn to make the correct settings.

3.  Only use OEM inks, and if going 3rd party inks then you need to go to the next level and generate your own custom ICC printer profiles using a ColorMunki Photo, etc. which is probably beyond your knowledge at this point.

Good luck!
