Any one using an A57 for birds in flight?

I'm looking for a very cheap camera to capture pics of wildlife, mainly birds in flight and I'm seriously considering an A57, because I have some of the Minolta film lenses. Does any one use it for BIF and is it any good?

A bit of info. I've just had to sell my previous gear, which was a Canon 1d MKIII, 300mm F2.8 IS and 2x converter, because I needed the cash.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated:-D
