DSLR, the hard sell

I would still take a DSLR:

- Mirrorless cameras aren't really all that smaller once you take lenses into account.

- Smaller might mean cramped, I love the concept but my hands are way too big.

- Do you want to take the shot, or do you want the camera / phone / thingamajig to guess the shot for you? Once you've learned photo basics a DSLR can do your bidding more efficiently.

- You see a potentially great shot, subject is moving at speed, in low light: wanna get the shot with a DSLR or weep like a little girl because you missed it?

- Ok phones do have an advantage on the road: the blurry instagramed crap can be uploaded very easily; with a DSLR you'll have to transfer the photos to a computer and then upload.

If you're still in doubt, flip a coin, remember it's all secondary and have fun, sounds like a great trip.
