FZ200 "Temporary" Price Drop

Panasonic has dropped the price of the FZ200 by $100. Most dealers now have it for about $500, but it is $448 at Amazon. Not unusual, as Amazon often beats the price of dealers like B&H. However, Amazon says "Offer valid through May 11, 2013 or while supplies last." Could it be that Amazon is selling off stock and why would Panasonic lower the price only through May 11?

I've been thinking of buying the FZ200 or waiting for a FZ250 if it ever exists. If the FZ250 or whatever is no better or even worse than the FZ200 then I would buy the FZ200 after the FZ250 is announced. The "while supplies last" makes me wonder if Panasonic hopes to sell off the FZ200 before any announcement is made.

Since I only follow camera announcements every few years when I am thinking of something new, I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what this temporary price drop means. The FZ200/250 would replace my 6 year old Canon S5IS. I do mostly nature photography, including macro, with both my S5IS and my old 10D.
