good picture in auto mode

I think we should take the question seriously. There are plenty of folks who don't have photography as a hobby but still appreciates the need to take decent pictures in situations where they don't want to bother with settings. Or don't want to invest time into reading manuals and learning the functions. But they may still have the ability to spend some cash in the hope of improving their shots.

We have an S-100 and I enjoy the size and creativity it can offer. My wife has absolutely zero interest other than turning it on, switching it to Auto and shoot. Often, her photos are truly great! We also have an SX-210 which we being when we need a longer zoom. I think the SX-280 (objects far away) or S100 (better at lower light) are two cameras that I would recommend even for the Auto photographer.
