Calibrating IMAC & MacBook Pro screen for photography

MAC has a built in screen calibrator that I use yet the two screen, IMAC & MacBook Pro, show photos slightly differently.  Would a software company such as XRite or Spyder give me better results.  What do you use?  I'm not crazy about spending a lot of money on calibration software if it isn't going to make a big difference.
