“Photo of the Week” thread – (week #1)

Welcome to our Photo of the Week thread. Please take a moment to read the objectives and guidelines and then jump right in.

The main objective of this event is to get people taking photos on a weekly basis and sharing their single best shot of the week with the rest of us, all in a spirit of light-hearted fun. It’s hoped that participation in this thread will foster community building among the participants, plus motivate us to keep improving our photography skills ranging from creative imagining, to shooting, to processing. The weekly voting is not intended to make this into a highly competitive “contest”, but to provide a sufficient level of motivation to maintain interest over the long term. If you have any questions they were probably addressed in the original discussion thread which you can find at this link: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3479611

  1. Post one (1) photo per week. This photo should be your best photo taken during the past week.
  2. Photos must be taken by a camera covered in this forum: Nikon D40-90, D3000-7100.
  3. The category can be anything you like: landscapes, macros, sports, portraits, kids, events, wildlife, cityscapes, abstract... you name it, if it moved you we'd like to see it.
  4. When commenting on a participant’s photo your comments should be kept brief and of a positive and encouraging nature where you tell the poster what you like about their image and what grabbed you. This thread is not intended for critiquing images - if a poster wants constructive criticism on an image he/she should post it in a separate thread and ask for this kind of feedback.
  5. You vote for the posted images by pressing the "Like" button beside the 3 images you like the best in each weekly thread. You are permitted 3 votes per week and the image with the most votes will be recognized as the "Photo of the Week," with 2nd and 3rd place going to the other two with the most votes. You may begin voting at any time during the week.

Note:  A new thread will begin each Friday morning, Eastern Time (GMT - 4:00).
