Stunned by photozone review on Zeiss 25mm 2.8 ZF (nikon)

Humoring myself, not looking to buy now, I took a web stroll to the photozone site to check out the review of the Zeiss 25mm 2.8....and was shocked.

Their summary basically blasts it?  Many swear by this lens and images I have seen look beautiful, so I was flummoxed.

Any thoughts, are lens tests really that useful, then? Or does it merely show the disparity between bench tests and real world.

Or is it all about interpretation and preferences in rendition?

Is it that the Zeiss is designed for rendition and real world shooting and the tests are just not suited for such and thus give a wholly unsuitable result?

Is this one of those cases where we ignore reviews, say 'ho hum' and move along nicely?
