I heard on this forum that the newer NEX's like my NEX-6 when set to 16:9 aspect ratio actually captures in full 3:2 but then puts in an "instruction" to RAW programs to crop accordingly and that Lightroom (but not IDC) will honor this instruction. Is there a way to make Lightroom not obey it so that I can have latitude to recrop in post? I like framing my shots in anamorphic (2.39:1) and 16:9 will definitely be a better framing aspect ratio than 3:2.

Why not just shoot 3:2 and set the crop tool in LR to 16:9?

If your final goal is 16:9 and you shoot 3:2 and crop latter you quickly find you framed it wrong shooting and need to decide to keep the heads or feet!
