Pursuing the academic line, Dan I think it's important to remember that DxOMark effectively measures the sensor's potential.  That potential usually translates into real-world usability but DxOMark can't detect the VPN that plagued the K10.

As a general rule I prefer DxOMark as a way of judging sensors over sites like DPR and IR, but the K10 is a good example of why we really need both styles.
