Following my instincts. I do occasional people stuff, and sometimes get asked to do products shoots.

My instincts are correct. I am absolutely pleased with the sharpness and crazy detail from the base D800 unit. I am sure there is a smidge more on the "E"....but I am fine RIGHT where I am at.

Yes...I am using the 16-35.

Let me put things this way. A few years ago....people like me who print large would kill for this kind of detail....and only dreamt of such things except from MF gear. Photography while fun to get the most technical details from each shot...if my photography is not compelling enough to get you involved with the picture.....12MP or 36MP would not make a real difference.

So in that light...and with my needs being variable...the difference really isn't that big.

If I want more resolution I will get the 14-24.
