Re: Should I get the Oly 75mm?

For portrait, no idea. I do not own any of them, but really like the look of most public pictures taken with the 75mm!!!

On the other hand, I would now certainly think twice before buying a 75mm instead of a 45mm...

At an indoor figure skating show last week, I had only brought my 70-300mm mounted on an E-5... Even at 70mm, it felt way too long (and, of course, way too slow with f/4).

Now, which lens could have helped me perform better there?

An m.Zuiko 75mm f/1.8? On a handy OM-D. But my E-P3 would have easily become the bottleneck in terms of image-capturing operations, versus the brisk DSLR...

I rather think that a 4/3 solution like the 50-200mm f/2.8 or better yet the 35-100mm f/2 woud have resolved the situation at hand; my faithful 12-60mm at 60mm would not (again, sluggish f/4 at 60mm).

On the Micro side of things, possibly then a 45mm f/1.8 or a "focus-locked" 60mm Macro f/2.8 would have become the perfect companion in there!
