A safety backup strap for a camera strap - pretty funny if you ask me.  That's having confidence in your equipment!

Agree. It seems most conventional camera strap discussions relate to what is most comfortable. These sling strap discussions seem to concentrate on what modiifications are used to decrease the chances of catastrophic failure.

To each his/her own, but I just never think about my strap failing and would not enjoy being out if I had to repeatedly check for loose clamps, broken clamps, loose screws, viable backup strap, deformed tripod socket, etc.
