SX50 - At Blue Heron Rookery

Was hazy blue sky, but sunny here in southeast Michigan. Spring is still behind so trees are still open to see the nests. I took some pics a couple of weeks ago with a Sony HX300, and I must say, I got way more keepers with the SX50 and more detail at 50x. Color is flat because the birds are rather gray looking now. I also included some pics of turtles, a robin, ducks and geese. I did some light Unsharp Mask and increase color saturation post processing. These were all taken using a monopod. Some in Auto, some in Av.

Turtles at 50x.

Duck at 50x - Notice the detailing in the feathers. I had to lighten the head as it was very dark.

Duck at 100x - Was shooting against the sun.

Robin at 50x - The only shot I got with the sun over my shoulder. Bird kept moving it's head so was pleased with result.

Heron at 50x.

Heron at 100x - Quite pleased with the digital zoom.
