Epson R300 Ink Problem
Basically down to the waste ink pad getting soaked - thus the head underneath hits the pad and distributes the ink on to the paper and/or the ink "overflows" and thus gets outside the pad and can be inside the printer to be caught by the paper. Sometimes if you check inside, where the paper emerges on the RH side, you can see a small pool of ink that has overflowed from the soaked waste ink pad.
A couple of things. First - as soon as you can - fit a waste ink drain tube and bottle (plenty of videos on youtube.com - perhaps not specifically your model, although search for Waste Ink and your model number as you may strike lucky - or see the basic methods and requirements shown for many models. Meantime, move the head into the change cartridge position, then unplug the power supply (meaning NOT switch the printer off or the head parks again!) so you can then feeely move the head side to side. Then use folded pads of kitchen-roll paper to press down gently on the waste pad (to right where head parks) and work to soak up as much of the soaked-in ink. That will provide a temporary cure. After this, just reconnect the power lead and switch on for the printer to set itself up automatically. As should be obvious, every clean will put ink into that waste pad!-- hide signature --

The R300 has a little latch in the rear left side. One screw pops it open and the drain tube is right there. Attach a longer piece of tubing and bring it out and into a drain bottle ( any bottle will do ).
