Re: D7100 or K-5IIs

Don't forget about WR - the bodies seem to be comparable in terms of sealing, but when it comes to lenses, Pentax has affordable wr zooms (which means WR is more than just an o-ring on the mount of the lens) and WR lenses that are much smaller and lighter.

Of course in body stabilization probably helps keep the lenses smaller and lighter thus more portable.

Also, think about the warranty and service.  Pentax has a 2 year extended warranty available for US buyers for $20 that includes one free cleaning and calibration.  Lens Rentals also mentioned that Nikon service takes much longer than what I've been hearing for Pentax service (though this could depend on the part) - of course the chances you'd need service on either one are very slight, but service support is important when you need it.

Regarding image quality, I've read that the d7100 has a bit more banding in pushed dark areas and slightly more noise than the d7000 (ergo, more than the K5 family).  Nothing terrible, but something to keep in mind.

Lastly, the files that the d7100 create are very large which is what you'd expect for 24MP.  That means the cameras buffer in RAW is about 7 shots, about 66% less than on a k5.  Also, when it comes to computer power, expect d7100 files to load slower on all but the most current and fast computers.
