A few weeks with the Pentax MX-1...

I have a dSLR system, and an extensive m4/3 system (for video and stills),

but when I decided to replace my Pany LX5 (a good camera) as a daily carry-around, I went with the MX-1, my first Pentax. I'm not sorry, although it is bigger and heavier. Not the least important criteria was that the video was better, and the lens was faster - useful for video as well as stills. So far, I'm quite happy...the comparatively low price was also a plus - it wasn't part of my decision-making, but a plus nonetheless. Closest competitor was the Sony RX100. Bigger sensor so better IQ, but it had some negatives.

There is no perfect compact camera, but the MX-1 is one of the best out there now.
