yes paul i can tell right away that i am going to like it alot

i have to many cameras so i did not mind losing those two i nearly put a bid on one of yours last week,,,did you sell it

Bassy… the Fuji X-S1 is the best super zoom camera on the market at this time IMHO and you have just proved that beyond any a shadow of doubt. It has the largest/best senor, sharpest lens and best features of any super zoom.

It simply puts the HS50EXR/35EXR, Canon SX50HS/40HS and every single other super zoom in a much lower class/league. Personally, I think having a better/ larger sensor and sharp lens is more important than having twice the reach and 24x is more than enough as you have just proved. My old Sony DSC-H5 is OK, but after looking at what the Fuji X-S1 can do, I am now considering upgrading to it. Thanks for posting these extremely sharp, highly detailed images and please continue to do so!

i just love looking through the eye view finder its just so clear and nice to look through

i do have the canon sx50 but the eye finder is just rubbish and i have to put my glasses on and use the rear screen

but i must admit i do like the pictures that come out of the sx50 some spring time lambs here if you wish to look,,regards bassy

I would be taking most of my pictures using the view finder, help steady the camera and I also wear glasses, so that is a big plus! I know the SX50 cost less, but IQ above all else and handling is more important to me.

Since you own both cameras and I value your opinion, can you tell me?
  1. Which one (in your opinion) has a better build quality and feels sturdier to you?
  2. Do you take most of you shots over 24x zoom? (I don’t take pictures of the moon or other planets)
  3. Which one takes sharper images that show the highest resolution and most fine detail?
  4. Which one has the best overall features to you, and why?
  5. How are the images taken inside in lower light? I would think the EXR mode would do better than the SX50 at much higher ISO, not to mention probably having better DR.
Thank you for your time and especially your great pictures! Please post a few more if you are so inclined :-)

my camera is only two days old,,but i can tell you the fuji feels so much nicer to hold and use

than the canon,,but the canon screen does flip out and twist more than the fuji

i have not used the fuji for bird shots yet, but i am very happy with the canon bird shots that i take

i am hoping that i will get better and sharper images with the fuji but like i have said i have not tried yet i guess that i will just have to get that bit more closer with the fuji

a bit to early to say what features that i like

i did try some inside shots this morning so the light was quite good i do have some more

that i can show you,,but that will be on monday this is my last post for today

all in all i am very very happy with the camera after just two days all these shots are straight out of the camera fine jpegs

and just think i dont even know the camera very well yet maybe able to do better than these lol

infact i did not even try very hard just a quick walk around snapping away in either p mode or i

just switched it to exr mode

and nothing to grand a few more inside shots not a real test i know

but so far and on the first day nearly every shot is a keeper i am not saying that i will keep these shots,,but most of them came out very good

thanks joms its nice to hear from you...and yes i will be shooting the fuji a lot this year

Thanks for the link and comparison. I guess for a person who plans on taking images like that seagull at that kind of distance, the SX-50 and its reach would be needed. My only question is, at full zoom with both the X-s1 and the SX-50, which one do you think resolves the finest detail? If the answer is the X-s1, that would be my pick and I would try to get closer my subjects and forget about anything too far away. IMO, if a picture is not clear, clean, sharp, and lacks a LOT of fine detail, I simply do not like looking at it, period. Sorry if that sounds blunt of me, that is just the way I feel about photography. When I look at how incredibly clear and sharp those two speed limit signs look from that X-s1 and how far away they are, they look GREAT to me. Too bad the X-s1 is going for such a high price or I would definitely upgrade my old Sony DSC-H5 for one ASAP. Now I hope an X-s2 comes out soon so the price will drop on the X-s1 :-)

Fantastic Bassy !! .

I can`t believe they only gave you £100 for both an E500 and an F100 though in Part-Ex :(

i prefer a honest answer its no problem for me ,i like both cameras i am not a fan boy of canon or fuji, i just love getting out and about taking photos ,,best regards bassy

adam infact i sold that olympus e500 on ebay two weeks ago for 150.00

but the buyer never paid up the camera had only taken just over two thousand shots

it was camera and twin lens kit i only bought it in the first place thinking that i would like the kodak color from it ,but i still have 2 kodak p880s and it was a impulse buy at the time so the e500 just had to go

but at the end of the day i got fed up with ebay,,and i wanted the fuji so much two cameras just had to go

so i got 100.00 for the olympus twin lens kit and 29.00 pounds for the f100fd

both cameras are mint condition so someone who walks into the london camera exchange in exeter will get a camera in as new condition

You were robbed.

I liked the colours from the E500, I think the newer and smaller E400 had the same Kodak sensor too.

Hi Keith, The extra shot look just great! Keep them coming my friend.

Our best wishes to You, Dawn and the rest of your Family,

Gary and Betty W SfO
