A quick scan of a few manuals and I see that E-PL2, E-PL3, E-P3 and E-PM1 also have copyright, but definitely is not in my E-PL1 and presumably earlier Pens.

So it's nothing new, it has been around for a few years.

My E-P2 does not have the menu to set the copyright information, my E-5 and my E-PM2 do have the feature.

For the DSLRs, Olympus Studio used to be able to to set the copyright information for attached cameras.  I don't know if Studio could set the copyright field for the Pens.

Olympus has now withdrawn Studio, but you might be able to get the last known version and an unlock code if you ask nicely (dunno if it works on Windows 8).
