A magnesium alloy body is superior to plastic when putting a 3000 gram telephoto lens on the camera.  No way a plastic threaded plastic toy is going to hold the lens correctly.

Who said anything about plastic threads? And what on a camera has threads except the tripod mount?!  ANd when you use a big heavy lens like that, you hold the lens and not the camera.  If you use a tripod with it, the lens gets a tripod collar so the lens gets supported not the camera.
