Advise from more experience photographers (need)

Dear Friends:

Some years ago, after months of research I got T1i with Canon 18-200mm.

Recent to SLR field, I use it mostly for traveling (with family), family parties and sight-seen pictures.

After quite 3 years, I realized it was NOT what I supposed it would be.

Although pictures in general are great, I could not find what I was looking for: sharpness and fast focusing.

I know you get what you pay for!

Now I am looking for advice in order to update my equipment and I would like your advices.

I could not get perfect focusing in an aircraft demo, even with very good light conditions. Same happens indoors, in our family parties.

What would you suggest? Is the 60D and the new 18-135 (motorized) faster in terms of getting the focus than my older gear?

I would like to thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Frank
