I had other stuff on that day therefore would have missed it, but I wasn't even aware there was a Barossa Air Show.

Went to one down at Goolwa some years ago and got some OK shots. Don't have the lenses for these types of flying shots,

There was one at Parafield a few months ago, the Classic Jets 'show.

I didn't have the big fancy lens then, I shot that with a Tamron 18-250 f3.5-6 (or so).

That was challenging due to lack of reach and really poor AF, but I did get a couple of decent shots although a couple required cropping to sort of get a half full frame:

That lens cost me less then $300 second hand, so it is possible to get some shots relatively inexpensively - they aren't great but it was fun shooting them - and what doesn't kill us etc.

You can also get the non VR Nikon 70-300 for around $200 new I think.

Don't get me wrong, I understand if you haven't got it $200 is a lot of cash, but for lenses it's relatively inexpensive.

but you can generally get close enough to the 'planes when they are on the ground, and landing and takeoff are good opportunities too.

I believe the Internode Parafield show is on later in the year.

This is the web site it still has 2012 info up but I am pretty sure I read something about it being on again this year - so keep an eye out if you are keen.

The youtube video on this face book page says November: - which makes sense as I think it was November last year too. (this is different to the Parafield one I mentioned above)
