Ok, yes

But Martijn worked with a manual 50 F/1.4, and that is probably a full frame lens, and equivalent to 75 mm. Did not like the FOV, and changed to 35 mm. And the 35 mm Sigma mentioned is equivalent to about 50 mm. So it is a lot back and forth.

Yes correct, I tried a manual FF lens (canon fd 50mm 1.4) but did not like the fov.

My understanding is that the sigma 35mm would become ~52mm due to the 1.5x crop, with the speedbooster it would become 35 * 1.5 (crop) * 0.71 (speedbooster compression) = ~37mm which should be close enough?

Let's put's this in another way :

You like the FOV of you 35mm lense on your Nex without adapter ?
Well, the Nex has a 1.5x crop factor since it's an APC sized sensor, so you were actually liking the 50mm FOV.

When you tried the 50mm with an adaptater that didn't affect the crop factor, so you were having a 75mm FOV.

So using 35mm + speedbooster will result in a much wider FOV that you'r used to currently.

People are liking a lot this speedbooster adpater also because it nullify the crop factor of APS-C adapters and can finally use legacy film lenses with the same FOV they were built for.

Ah I see... So FOV wise the sigma 50mm 1.4 (http://www.dpreview.com/lensreviews/sigma_50_1p4_c16) would be a better fit for me to use with the speedbooster.. Would such a combo have a big advantage over the sony 35 with OSS or would it be negligible?

Well, in theory yes, you would have more light but loose AF and IQ seems equivalent.
But I think I would rather try a Nikon 50 F/1.4 D, it looks to be equivalent IQ wise and is more lightweight, compact and cheaper : http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/Lenses/Compare-Camera-Lenses/Compare-lenses/(lens1)/202/(brand)/Sigma/(camera1)/680/(lens2)/198/(brand2)/Nikkor/(camera2)/680/(lens3)/1083/(brand3)/Sony/(camera3)/0

The Nikon 50 F/1.4 E is even more compact, but i didn't find IQ tests.
Using a simple adaptater Nikon to EF mount, we can use nikon on speedbooter.

There are canon lenses options too (probably more expensive &bulky) : especially the 50mm 1.2 !
