Re: 50mm vs 100mm macro?

Superb work!

How close were you to the subject to get these photos?

I have read somewhere that 50mm Macro lenses are more suited to APS-C and the 100mm's are more suitable for FF.

What is the advantage of using a 50mm macro as opposed to 100mm for APS-C?

Obviously you get away with slower shutter speeds and less shake.

Thank you for looking and for your comment, Simon!

I tried as close to the flies or thorn as possible, I should say almost 20cm; I don't have a DFA 100, though it's on my wishlist. But I know both are for FF. I'm sorry I can't comment on DFA 100 or on the advantage of using one as opposed to the other.

As you could see, I had to use ISO 400 or 800 so as to ensure faster shutter speed and reduce blur due to handshake. With K-5 IIs or K-5, I feel rather confident to use such high ISO values as 800, 1600, 3200, or even 6400.
