I have chance to pick up these 2 lenses for use with my d800e reasonably cheap but the reviews don't seem to rate them.

being ever so sceptical about online reviews I wonder if anyone here has some real world experience of these lenses that you could share - would you consider using them, mainly for landscapes and Panoramas?

I used the 24mm f/2.8 AF for at least 10 years before buying the 24 f/1.4G. I used the lens for everything under the sun and loved it. I actually was surprised to see how much hatred went out for that lens considering I basically had it glued to my camera for years. I only purchased the 24 f/1.4G because I wanted something faster than f/2.8. I use the 24mm f/1.4G but not as much as I did the tiny f/2.8.

As for the 35mm f/2 I have the AIs manual focus version. I used that for years also. In fact it was the third lens I ever purchased way back in the early 1990's. I like it a lot and still use it today on my D700. In fact I haven't purchased another 35mm lens because I figured I already have a lens that's pretty good.

Here's my set for the 24mm lens:

Not as many for the 35mm though I used it extensively it was mostly with film or with people that I can't post online:

Always have a camera with you and make sure you use it.

I am still using the 24mm 2.8D you speak of and I print very large. I use it stopped down, but on occasion use it for some wide angle subject isolation when my son is in the park etc. It works well and yes, the lens snobs will find fault with everything on here. I own many classic lenses, eg 85mm 1.4D is one of my favs.
