The (in)significance of resolution

Scans of prints

I've made two 10 x 8 inch prints and scanned them at 600ppi on my Epson 3200, then cut out a small section from each reproduced below. One is bidirectional, the other single directional.

I can't tell which is which on the originals although in one or two places of greenery I think one might be fractionally lighter...maybe.


The sections below are about are about 3 inches wide on the original print. The 1:1 view of the scanned files blows them up huge!
