How does "old" Canon 100 macro compare to new 100 and Tamron 90 macro?

Re: From the OP: Macros with my "old" Canon 100 macro.

Aside from maco the IS is amazing for portraits and general handholding while shooting.  I agree on the sharpness being similar but I couldn't wait to sell my older 100 to get the IS.  I would pay extra for every lens I own to add IS to it.  I also shoot with a Sony NEX7 and the 10-18 zoom with IS is something I really wish Canon would get on board with.  I would pay to add IS to my 17-40 and 24-70 zoom.  Those who say that it isn't needed at those focal lengths haven't enjoyed shooting at 1/4 sec. and it is really nice when used panning.
