I was doing some more research and noticed the Canon 6d is "splash and dust resistant"

maybe I just grab a used K30 and see what happens.

Yea... I used to work for a company that made radios for the military. From that perspective, none of this stuff is sealed against anything. Splash and dust resistant is probably a good accurate description of what the 6D is designed for but I wouldn't expect a 6D to last long in pouring rain (for example). Of course as soon as I post this, someone will chime in with an example of just that. As they say YMMV, but IMO better to be safe than sorry.  I always treat this stuff like a precision instrument since that is what I think it really is.  This doesn’t mean that I don’t use my stuff -- Yes, I do USE IT and I DO expect it to work but I don’t expect it to be bullet proof either.

As an aside, I generally get top dollar for my used stuff because it is in pretty good shape.
