OMD severe flash exposure problem

Re: OMD severe flash exposure problem

The problem you are seeing relates to the TTL setting.

By default OLY flashes use the TTL setting.  You will notice a very slight delay when you use this setting when taking pictures.

Under this setting the flash caters to the camera's metering, so the output is the same for any and literally all settings.

The only way around this is to play with the flash compensation, or to set the flash to auto, which actually provides a slightly better output, and gives you no delay whatsoever.

I compared auto and ttl setting and I can only get my kid in focus with auto.  The auto setting also gives a 'cooler' exposure for some reason.

If you feel you want ttl (i don't) you can fiddle with the default exposure settings in the camera and push the exposure higher in there to suit your needs.

Hope this helps.
