Wally,  I was supposed to be out there again right now with friends but couldn't make it. They did a journey to White Pockets, you probably need a guide for that excursion. I think they paid $150 each.....spendy I know...

I would think if you have a sharp copy of they 12-50 you'd do fine. If you can rent the 12-35 give it a go, I really like mine.  Longer shutter speeds and smaller aps will help the 12-50 along.

The Wave is tough to get as I got a lottery on my first try. They also have day permits to fill in the 20 or so they lottery out.
