My wife has just come back from China. Her Leica V-Lux's GPS would not work in China. Apparently it is a decision by the manufacturers (Panasonic in this case) to kowtow to Chinese government paranoia and disable the GPS, if the camera detects it is in or even near China. The strange thing is that other makers (Sony etc) don't bother and GPS on certainly some of their models, works perfectly well. It will be interesting to see if the GPS in the multifunction grip on my Leica M-240, which is built by Leica themselves, behaves in a similar fashion to the Panaleica.
