Hi Vieri,

Even if the foveon is really great in my personal experience microcontrast is often on the lenses... Have you tried your d800 with the 21 Zeiss...?

Hi Massimo,

indeed this is very true. However, the Bayer interpolation has inevitably a micro-contrast reducing effect "by design", so to speak, compared to the Foveon.

I haven't tried the Zeiss 21 f2.8 on the D800E, but I own the best of the Nikkors: still, after using the DPx Merrill and seeing the results they produce - and with Sigma lenses, not glass of the Zeiss or Leica kind...! - Sigma got my attention and I started seeing if I could get that kind of IQ on a DSLR...

Thanks again, best

Vieri
