The corners can be good, sometimes they are not.  But I think when that happens it's more an issue with focus than the lens.  It's probably not quite as sharp zoomed out fully.

I see - that's good to hear: you think the culprit is mis-focussing, or it's due to the field curvature of the lens itself?

I'm honestly not quite sure.  All I know is that sometimes I can get pretty good corners, other times not.  it may be a combination of both but I am pretty sure being so wide, it has a tendency to prefer to focus a little further out than would yield the best result.

So that you can better understand my definitions, I consider these corners OK:

Whereas these corners are OK at the bottom, and not very good at the top:

Sometimes I think I may have got even better corners than the first image, I'll have to see if I can find one.

About zooming out, I would be happy if it stayed great until 10mm, even if not fantastically sharp at 8mm is fine by me.

I think that is the case.

Hello Kendall,

thank you for the samples. I see what you mean. What it is quite impressive is how well controlled is CA in the second example, did you use SPP's CA controls?

Good to hear that the 8-16m is great at 10mm. That would be enough for me (of course, if a lens goes to 8 one shall expect it to be good there as well, but this is another story).

Thank you very much again for your help, best
