100-300mm f4 lens...I wonder...

Hi folks,

For awhile Sigma produced the great screwdrive 100-300mm f4 lens for Pentax mount. I own one and can vouch for how great it is with or without a 1.4X teleconverter. Now that Sigma has discontinued this lens many folks are searching high and low for used copies and they snap them up as soon as they come on the market. So, I am wondering, if Pentax produced a screwdrive 100-300mm f4, as good or better than the Sigma 100-300mm f4, would it sell? IMO it would not have to be WR as most of the WR buyers have or will have the DA*60-250/4 and/or the DA*300/4 lenses. IMO, 100-300mm f4 (140-420mm f5.6 with a 1.4X TC) is ideal for handheld shooting for a great many subjects. IMO it would sell good. What do you think?

EDIT: If I remember correctly, the Sigma 100-400/4, when it was new, sold for about US $900 to $1100. I think that Pentax would have to be able to sell one at least in the US $1000 to $1300 range.
