Please disregard my earlier remark, as I was thinking of the just announced HF G30, which will not be available until June, and is a much more expensive camcorder ( $600 more than the G20 ).

Note that the only true progressive option on the G10/G20 is 24p   It offers the max image quality and the best low light performance.  Instead of 30p, these camcorders offer 30PF, which stands for Progressive segmented frame.  This is a technique of recording progressive video within an interlace stream.

So use 24p for best results in the indoor recitals, and 60i for sports.  Shoot both using the max MXP 24 Mbps recording quality.

thank you

i am tempted to wait for the G30 and pay extra $600. Features i like:

- 60p

- 20x lens

- 5 axis stabilization

- bigger battery

- capacitive touch screen

- higher res viewfinder with tilt

- hybrid focus with phase detect - ( i can't tell if this is new vs G20/10)
