Recommend black and white medium format

What are some reasons why someone would shoot 35mm film over a DSLR. Can you extract higher image quality from 35mm?

If you want do do it, my recommendation would be medium format and black and white film. Why? Because the larger negatives are easier to work with, and are big enough that you might feel you you are getting higher resolution. And b&w film and developing chemicals aren't that expensive.

The problem is that it's hard to learn how to use a MF camera and develop your own film without someone to show you the ropes. And it's insanely time-consuming.
