new lens test shot

I've just acquired an OM Zuiko 38mm f/3.5 macro.
On the OM bellows this lens will work up to x6 magnification, but with very short working distances and extreme shallow DOF. I'm hoping to start working with Focus Stacking soon - one aspect of macro shooting I've not tried, and this lens should be ideal for what I like to shoot.

Today though I thought I'd just give the lens a quick try-out to confirm that its OK optically, so I put it on my OM 65-116mm tele tube and took it outside for some hand-held shots.

I've got to say that this lens is definitely not designed for hand-held work. Trying to hold the camera steady for a shot even at x3 was quite difficult.

I got enough nice shots to confirm that the lens is plenty sharp enough for my needs . . .
