I agree Samsung should improve their support. It is almost impossible to find any update for the lenses if you dont know exactly where to look for it. It is one of the things they should change to be taken more seriously in this business. Im curious how many people who own 85mm are aware that there is a new firmware for the lesnes hidden between updates for NX20 or NX1000?
All relative!
I have some cameras/lenses there exist one or two updates I never installed.
WHY? I never did need them. WHY I should "kill" camera/lens to have an update that
a) I do not find
b) I don't know what it makes
c) I do not need
Last week I read a posting from a user, he "had" to install firmware 1.0 on his NX1000, then he had a DEAD NX1000
My NX1000's firmware is 1.11 - any reason for perhaps-Harakiri with updating?
.
The firmware is just an example. I meant support and communication with consumers. If Samsung decide to release any update it would be nice of them to let people know or at least to put it in a proper place so it would be possible to find if someone needs it.
Buying interchangeable lens camera is a bit different to buying P&S camera or mobile phone. The investment is much more substantial and it locks you in with the company. The photography is only my hobby and Samsung's cameras are perfect for me because of a good sensor, ergonomics, and most of all, good affordable lenses. If I bought any other comparatively system it would cost me much more. But on the other hand if I was more serious about photography I would be very wary about going with Samsung. The one reason would be the support. You know what you may expect from companies like Canon or Nikon. You can't be completely sure how serious about NX business Samsung is.
