Trying to figure out what to do with a BestBuy gift card and the Q (not the Q10) seemed an option.

I have the K-01 and really like it.  Sure the Q is VERY small but will it essentially just be a replacement for a P&S?

Will that small appeal wear off when the sacrifice in IQ becomes more apparent?

I gather the output looks decent in good light but gets into P&S territory when indoors.

... and yes I know... I certainly don't actually NEED one by any means.

Any government that has the power to correct any injustice and level any inequality also has the power to do ANYTHING it wants.

Depends upon how you visualise it.

I have one fitted with a 38mm f1.9 focal length lens in D mount.  No vignetting. If you compare a 212mm equvialent f1.9 Pentax Q outfit to that which might be necessary to image on to a conventional sized  sensor then the physical size of your aps-c equivalent is quite remarkable.  If you need absolute image excellence as your prime requiremen then you do need that big lump outfit and pay accordingly for the privilege.  But if your needs can be satisfied more modestly then the Q can give a lot of bang for your buck at miniscule size and modest pricing.  F1.9 is a pretty fast lens at that focal length equivalent.
