It was there after processing.  Shadow slider maxed out, and the Black slider up a bit, too.  So shadow exposure increased a few stops.  Didn't use any luminance NR, since it killed all the fine detail.  Gonna shoot some calibration charts for Neat Image this weekend and see if I can smooth some stuff out without reducing detail.
