Perspective distortion is caused by being too close to you subject.  Causes straight lines to be curved, noses to be too big, etc.

Having the plain of the sensor parallel to the line you want straight helps somewhat.

Standard solution is to back away from the subject and use a short telephoto. You used 18mm on both images

Architectural photogs use pan and tilt, either with a view camera or special lenses.

If you cannot get back and do not have a pan and tilt lens, get the camera as parallel to the image as you can and fix in post processing. Be sure to leave extra room around aubject since you will have to crop after perspective control to get back to rectangular image.
