Re: LX7 - does its IQ compete with e.g. Sony RX100?

I hate to jump in this fray, but there are two factors nobody seems to have considered.

First off there may be an efficiency difference in the respective sensors. In other words, how many electrons will be generated per each photon stricking the sensor. Some sensors may be more sensitive to light than others, and some will also differ in their signal to noise ratio. You can play with the semantics of the aperture, but what the sensor does with that illumination is what counts. We don't see this information on the respective spec sheets.

Here's another thought, and I will leave the math to somebody much more dedicated. Let us say sensor "S" is larger than sensor "P". It also has more pixels. So, if we divvy up the larger sensor area into many more pixel spots, will each spot be larger or smaller than the other sensor having a smaller overall area but less pixels?

I just thought I would throw a few more factors into the discussion.....
